Randy Allen  Ackerman
Randy A. Ackerman, 56, a lifelong resident of Wassaic, NY, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Mr. Ackerman worked at New Horizons in Wassaic, NY for 20 years and later worked for Manpower Inc. retiring in 2010.

Born on May 21, 1957 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Edward and Eva (Decker) Ackerman. In 1975, Mr. Ackerman graduated Webutuck High School and Dutchess County BOCES, where he received his LPN. He later graduated Dutchess County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Human Services. On June 12, 1988 in Wassaic, NY he married Margret Boyles who survives at home.

Mr. Ackerman was a life member and the current secretary of the Wassaic Fire Company. He also served as past president, treasurer and was a longtime member of the Wassaic Fire Company’s Board of Directors. He was also a former EMT and a member of the Wassaic Rescue Squad.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Chadd Ackerman and his fiancée, Crystal Lobert, of Wassaic, NY; a daughter, Jessica Ackerman of Wassaic, NY; three brothers, Thomas Ackerman of Wassaic, NY, Michael Ackerman of Dover Plains, NY and David Ackerman of New Milford, CT and two sisters, JoAnn Diamonti of Canaan, CT and Heidi Short of Mt. Carmel, IL. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Faith Renee Ackerman, Grace Leann Ackerman and Landen Anthony Ackerman and two step-grandchildren, Ashton Lobert and Morgan Lobert. Besides his parents, Mr. Ackerman was predeceased by two sisters, Eva Ackerman and Jill Caldarelli and a brother, Robert Ackerman.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The Wassaic Fire Company will conduct firematic services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the South Amenia Presbyterian Church, 229 South Amenia Rd. Wassaic, NY with Rev. Zora Ficarra-Cheetham. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be to the Wassaic Fire Company or the Wassaic Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 287, Wassaic, NY12592.
