Judith Joy Nickerson, age 70, a lifetime resident of Wingdale, NY, left this life to join other loved ones on February 24th, 2014. She was born on June 13th, 1943 to William George Ketchin, Sr. and Marian Belle Morganteen Ketchin in Danbury, CT, who are both deceased.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband Lee Gordon Nickerson of 44 years, and her loving son Michael Lee Nickerson, both of Wingdale. She is also survived by her brother, William G. Ketchin and his wife Mary of Wingdale, a nephew Anthony Ketchin and his wife Mary, and their daughters Marissa and Taylor of Dover Plains and a niece, Nancy Ketchin Badger, her husband Andrew, and their son Mason, of Hopewell Junction, NY.
Judy was a 1961 graduate of Dover Plains High School and has been very active over the years in the reunions of that class. Her career with the NYS Office of Mental Health started in July of 1961 at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale and she retired in 1996 from Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie as a Secretary II/Administrative Assistant. She was an avid reader, enjoyed connecting with folks on the computer and doing family genealogy. Most of all, she enjoyed being Mrs. Nickerson, Mom, and “Aunt Je Je.”
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Bacino officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at South Dover Rural Cemetery, Route 55, Wingdale, NY.
