Gerald Joseph "Jerry"  Ranita Sr.
Gerald Joseph Ranita, Sr. best known as “Jerry”, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at his home in Dover Plains, NY at the age of 72. Jerry was a driver for UPS in Bronx, NY for over 20 years. For 18 years, Jerry was a member and former Vice President of Local #804 of the Teamsters. He was also a member of the Dover Lions Club.

Born on February 21, 1943 in Bronx, NY he was the son of the late Anthony and Lillian (Musumecci) Ranita. On September 5, 1964 in Bronx, NY he married Antoinette Seibl who survives at home. They had been married for over 50 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ranita is survived by his three sons, Gerald J. Ranita, Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Spencertown, NY, Michael A. Ranita, and his wife, Jom, of White Plains, NY and Christopher V. Ranita and his wife, Mary, of Dover Plains, NY. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Mason, Brayden and Raymond.

Jerry loved his job, the Yankees and the Giants, but most of all he loved his family. Family was everything to him. He especially enjoyed time spent with his wife, spoiling the heck out of their grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains, NY. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Rd, Suite #103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
