Obituary for Paul Belas

Paul Belas, 88, a longtime resident of Amenia, New York, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Belas was a finish carpenter specializing in furniture refinishing for the Engelhard and Koenig Company in Patterson, NY for 25 years retiring in 1995. Mr. Belas also worked for Hunts County Furniture in Windgale, NY for many years.

Born on March 11, 1929 in Sacurov, Czechoslovakia he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Malenda) Belas. On May 23, 1953 in New York City he married Anna Klvac who survives at home. Mr. Belas was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association and the TATRA Gun Club in Czechoslovakia. He also enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens. Mr. Belas was an avid New York Yankee fan.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Belas is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Rennia and her husband, Carl Michael, of Amenia, NY and Cindy Langiu and her husband, Americo, of Dover Plains, NY and a son, Edward Belas and his wife, Wendy, of Wassaic, NY. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Claudia and Griffin Langiu. Besides his parents, Mr. Belas was predeceased by a son, Robert Belas.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY.
