Obituary for Joseph L. Kain Jr.

Joseph L. Kain, Jr., 67, a lifelong area resident, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his home in Amenia. Mr. Kain owned and operated the Sharon Valley Tavern in Sharon, CT for 30 years retiring in 2008.

Born on June 21,1950 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of Joseph L. Kain, Sr. of Amenia and the late Lois Middlebrook Kain. He was a graduate of Webutuck High School in Amenia and attended SUNY Cobleskill. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia.

Mr. Kain is survived by his former wife, Sandra Kain, of Amenia, NY; a daughter, Jessica Kain, of Lime Rock, CT and a son, Joseph T. Kain, III of Sharon, CT. He is also survived by four brothers, Gerard Kain of Amenia, NY; Christopher Kain of Lowville, NY; Jeffrey Kain of Myrtle Beach, SC and Dr. Jay Kain of Great Barrington, MA; two sisters, Lisa Ducillo of Summerfield, FL and Lorrie Kain of New York, NY and a granddaughter, Audrey Kain and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lavelle Rd., Amenia, NY with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating.
