Thomas H. Johnson, 74, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. Mr. Johnson was an operating engineer for the IOUE Local 137 in Briarcliff Manor, NY until his retirement.
Born on July 9, 1943 in New Milford, CT he was the son of the late Elmon E. and Ethel M. (Stang) Johnson. On March 20, 1965 he married Geanine Schreiber who predeceased him.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Norris and her companion, Gerald Munger, Tamara Johnson, and Tina Frankie and her husband, James Frankie; a son, Tom Johnson and his wife Sarah Rushia Johnson; and a sister, Patricia McMahon and her husband, Charles. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kayla Norris and her fiancé, Joshua Stiller, Sarah Patrick, Johnathon Sprague, Amanda Frankie, Dustin Johnson, Christopher Frankie and Alexis Carter, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and former wife, Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a brother, Richard “Red” Johnson.
Tom loved his family, his friends, cars and a good, cold Budweiser. He passed his love of knowledge and great taste in music onto his children and grandchildren. He always lived life to fullest and his door was never locked.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the VFW Post #5444, 3422 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
