Raymond Charles Franks, 72, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Franks worked for Audia Motors in Millbrook, NY and later worked in the Maintenance Department at Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY retiring in 2001.

Born on May 16, 1940 in Sharon, CT he was the son of the late Raymond Albert and Mary Ellen (Phelps) Franks. Ray grew up on a dairy farm with his three sisters, Patsy, Connie, and Nancy. He attended Bell School and graduated from Dover High School. Mr. Franks served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961 and was stationed at Fort Eustis, VA. On June 15, 1963 in Dover Plains, NY he married Laura Green who survives at home.

Mr. Franks was a little league manager and past president of the Dover Lions Club. Ray was a very active sportsman. He loved hunting, trapping and fishing. He also played softball, volleyball and golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, he is survived by his three sons, Raymond A. Franks and his wife, Christine, of Kent, CT, Steven C. Franks and his wife, Bonnie, of Dover Plains, NY and Justin S. Franks and his wife, Kathleen Cahill, of Amenia, NY; two sisters, Connie Freer of Millbrook, NY and Nancy Agemy of Youngsville, NC; six grandchildren, Amanda Basting, Jesse, Emma, Matthew, Kara, and Luke Franks; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Green of Dover Plains, NY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Patsy Franks
