Helen J.  Russell
Helen J. Russell, 91, formerly a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Pelzer, SC. Mrs. Russell was a therapy aide at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY for 28 years retiring in 1983.

Born on March 18, 1922 in Hinsdale, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fay and Nellie (Reynolds) Keech. On December 9, 1954 in Reno, Nevada she married Roger C. Russell who predeceased her on October 15, 1994. Mrs. Russell was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church in Amenia, NY.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughters, Alice O’Handley and her husband, Hugh, of Pelzer, SC and Judiann Jessup and her husband, Art, of Washingtonville, NY; a son, Roger D. Russell of Amenia, NY; six grandchildren, Amy, Joseph, Joshua and Jacquelyn O’Handley, Renee and Sean Russell and Todd Jessup. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Richard Russell, and his wife, Margaret, of Dover Plains, NY.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Russell was predeceased by her two brothers, Frank and Robert Keech and four sisters, Bertha Milliron, Carol Wilber, Martha Hamer and Mildred Keech.

Calling hours will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Danforth Cemetery, Danforth, ME. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association, 301 Manchester Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or the United Presbyterian Church, North Street, Amenia, NY 12501.
